Data layer

Open-Meteo provides wind speed, direction, gusts, and temperature. In the marine layer, when an official Windy Point Forecast API key is configured, Windy gfsWave is used as the primary wave reference.

If Windy data is unavailable, Open-Meteo Marine API wave height, direction, wind-wave, swell, and period values remain as the backup/control layer. The stored coordinates of the selected beach are used for the request; the user's location is not requested.

Coastal interpretation

Wind approach, open-sea exposure, fetch, and shelter are assessed together.

A sheltered cove and an exposed shore are not treated as equivalent under the same weather pattern.

Forecast limitations

Displayed wave height is an estimate created from data and model output, not a direct instrument reading at the shoreline.

Local flags, lifeguards, and official weather warnings always take priority.
